Marcus Newell made two changes from Wednesday nights 2-0 defeat to Bridlington Town. Tim Lowe and Jack Richardson were both recalled to the squad to replace Darren Hanslip (unavailable) and Alex Flett (injured but on the bench).
After a slow start to the game it was Albion Sports who had the first attempt on goal of the game as Mohamad Kaba swung in a free-kick from the right but Miles Fenty got there before Alex Cusack who would have headed the ball home had it not been for his intervention.
The visitors were in the ascendancy and tried once more to take the lead but Fenty was on hand again to prevent Omar Hableed as he latched onto a Marcus Edwards through ball .
With the home crowd getting anxious about the amount of possession Albion were having, it was in fact the Owls who opened up the scoring in the 18th minute when Cooper raced clear who slotted under the on-rushing Jack Bentley to send the home fans delirious.
It should have been 2-0 seconds later as Bentley made a brilliant double save, firstly to deny Jonathan Oglesby’s cross then Coopers swivel shot was parried over the bar.
The post came to the rescue of Albion next as Daniel Trott used his strength to hold off Joshua Taylor in the channel. He turned inside and shot from 20 yards out only for the post to come to the aide of Bentley.
Marcus Edwards then had a great chance to equalise but headed over the bar from four yards out from a deep Taylor corner.
The half ended with Albion on top as Tim Lowe had to clear off the line as Kaba and Hussain worked well but the ball could not be forced over the line.
With no changes at the break, and the game settling down it early it was not until the 54th minute that the first real chance came when Jack Richardson found himself with the ball in the box facing outwards. He smartly turned Kaba but found Bentley with his snapshot.
Just two minutes later and it was Trott this time the provider but his cross was too hard for Cooper which bounced off the striker and into the arms of Bentley.
With time ticking on, the Owls made two quick substitutions bringing on Mascall and Laurence McKay.
This made an immediate impact as they went on the search of another goal. It just would not come though as Robertson, Cooper and Trott were all denied by Bentley who did well to deny the three strikers.
Albion huffed and puffed in the final minutes of the game but the Owls stood strong as they recorded a slender win.
