Heckington 1 – 3 Cleethorpes Town
Cleethorpes Town began the season as they ended the last with a win against Heckington, The early stages Cleethorpes Dominated and passed the ball well at high tempo and took a deserved lead when Ricky Belding put the visitors in front after a move that opened up the Heckington defence.
Cleethorpes Then eased off as Heckington raised their game and found a way back into the game when Lee Llewellyn equalised, this put Cleethorpes on the back foot further and a fine penalty save by the Cleethorpes Town Keeper Scott Drury ensured the scores were level at Half time.
The second half saw Cleethorpes come back out on the back of stern words from the teams management team and Cleethorpes began to dominate once more and as before the Belding took advantage of an error in the Heckington defence to restore Cleethorpes Lead
Cleethorpes spurned a number of chances with some of these bringing the best out of the Heckington keeper Neil Terry who denied Belding & Phil Cawley with some fine saves.
Heckington saw an effort rebound off the bar from outside the area before a cross into the box from left hand side found Michael Steer coming in at the far post to head into the net to seal a hard worked victory but deserved victory at Heckington for Cleethorpes who continued their unbeaten run into the new season.
