1 goal good enough to see off Hemsworth MW

Cleethorpes Town entertained Hemsworth Miners Welfare looking to bounce back from there defeat at Louth on Wednesday evening with one change seeing Marc Cooper come in for the injured Ricky Belding the line up was the same apart from a couple of changes on the Bench. In warm sunny conditions the game started at a slow pace as both teams where giving the ball away in the early stages and chance where few and far between.
There was a couple a blocked shots for both sides first Marc Cooper saw an effort blocked by the resolute Hemsworth defence and the Cleethorpes defence where equally resolute as two shots where block from Robbie Crapper and Jacob White in quick succession for Hemsworth as both sides where looking to gain the control of the game. Cleethorpes slowly began to create more chances albeit that they did not test Dale Walston in the Hemsworth goal with efforts from Lee Stephenson, Marc Cooper and Daniel Barrett.
The breakthrough came as Cleethorpes won the ball back deep in there own area and Alex Flett sent the ball deep over the static Hemsworth defence as Stephenson raced onto the ball with the defender behind him he just had Walson to Beat where he coolly slotted home giving Walson no chance to give Cleethorpes the lead.
Barrett was continuing to get forward from his full back position and interchange of passes in front of him saw the ball played back to him as he went through into the box but his effort curled agonisingly wide. Jack Wakefield shot over from outside the area for the visitors in replay as Stephenson saw another effort saved and Tim Lowe sent a free kick over the bar. Hemsworth should of equalised just before half time as the ball fell to the unmarked Hayward in the Cleethorpes area but he blazed over from 12 yards.
Cleethorpes came out the stronger in the second half where they had more of the ball but chances where at a premium but the lead should have been doubled as a cross from Lowe found Marc Cooper who headed against the upright, then the same player saw another effort go wide. Flett saw an effort saved from outside the area. Hemsworth meanwhile where finding it hard to get an effort on Drury’s goal.
Then following a off the ball incident Hemsworth were reduced to 10 men as did Hemsworth chances of retrieving something from the game. The game faded as Cleethorpes went forward but they struggled to make the extra man count to create any clear chances in the closing stages. The referee blew for full time as Cleethorpes climbed to fourth in the League table. Next up for Cleethorpes is a home game on Wednesday evening as they host Teversal 7:45pm kick off
