The Owls begin their home fixtures in the BetVictor Northern Premier League on Tuesday evening with a visit from Lincoln United.
Contrasting fortunes for the county rivals on the opening day – Clee picking up a good road point with a solid performance in a 0-0 draw at Ilkeston, whilst the Whites went down 2-0 at Ashby Avenue against Carlton Town.
Keeper Theo Richardson starred for us, in particular with a dramatic last minute save. It was overall a hard-working afternoon by the players though and most observers agreed that a share of the spoils was fair overall. A clean sheet away is always a very decent way to start your campaign!
Difficult to know exactly what to expect from our visitors, who have seen quite a few changes over the Summer. We will almost certainly be seeing at least a couple of familiar faces, with ex-Owls Danny North and Mark Gray expected to line-up for Lincoln.
We enjoyed a double over United in 2018/19 and will be looking for similar this time around, especially with the traditional Boxing Day clash moved to the first week of the season. A win over the Whites would set us in high spirits ahead of a potentially tricky visit to Melton Town in the FA Cup. On that note, executive travel is available to Leicestershire – ONLY £10. Places limited, please book your seat whilst at the Linden tomorrow.
So, with the ground looking in superb condition, it promises to be an entertaining clash – let’s get a bumper crowd out to cheer on the lads!
