A great game from both teams, make this the one to watch

Gordano boys came out in force for the next instalment of our series of local derbys. The sharks definitely did not disappoint. From the outset they put in a great performance, moving the ball around with ease and staying out of contact. This put Clevedon on the back foot and took them a while to settle and play the game. Clevedon went down a few tries before they switched themselves on and put up a stronger defence. After the first quarter Clevedon were trailing 25 -15.
Going into the second quarter there was a lot more ball played off the ground which slowed the game. Clevedons rucking was strong and managed to turn the ball over a couple of times, however it was then lost from some handling errors. The boys are slowly starting to realise that they have to get up on their team mates when a break is made to support that player and not leave them isolated. Protecting and securing the ball is paramount. A few more points were put on the board during this quarter for both sides.
The 3rd quarter started much better, after a few words had during the break, it seemed to spur them on again. Gordanos attack play was excellent with some fabulous off loads and support, but this was counteracted by the growing pressure from Clevedons defence. The score board was fairly evens with the sharks having a 5 point lead going into the final quarter.
It was very clear that if you want something enough you will go and get it. This was very much Clevedons attitude. They put in their all, the attacking game improved and the defence held strong. Clevedon managed to run in 4 tries in the final quarter but only conceding one, finishing the game 60 -50.
This game was excellent to watch. Gordano were very organised and well drilled. They were very strong in all aspects of the game and looked the stronger team to start. I think Clevedon have some work to do, to come off the blocks quicker and get the ball moving more freely. It is still like Bees round honey, there's a big pitch out there, lets use it.
