The Seasiders are home again on Saturday when old rivals Welton Rovers are the visitors for what will be the 101st game between the sides, with Clevedon ahead by 45 wins to 35. The games have usually produced plenty of goals over the years, like Welton’s 5-4 Somerset Premier Cup win last season.
The reverse fixture in the second game of the season finished 1-1 when Alex Camm’s very late penalty cancelled out Joe Durrant’s opener just after half time.
Clevedon have put a poor January behind them with four wins in their last four league games without conceding a goal. In contrast Welton come into the game with only one point and eight defeats in their last nine games, but that form guide might be thrown out of the window if new manager Ben Carter and several new signings are able to galvanise the squad.
Manager Alex White conceded that he doesn’t know what to expect but said, “As always, this season we are not overly focused on the opposition. We will have half an eye on them, and they gave Bridgwater a tight game last week, but we know if we play well that will give us the best chance of winning the game.”
There will also be another chance to view the completed mural on the stadium wall, meet the mural team and pick up the free pocket guide.
