Clevedon Town v Bradford Town - Saturday 25th January 2020

Clevedon Town welcomed Toolstation Western League Premier Division Leaders Bradford Town to The Everyone Active Stadium and after an even first 45 minutes the visitors scored 3 times after the break to take the 3 points and consolidate their position at the top of the table.

The visitors made the perfect start when they took the lead on 5 minutes. The ball was played forward to Tyson Pollard on the left edge of the box and he managed to find the space to shoot past Mike Dangerfield and into the far corner of the net to make the score 0-1.

The home side were not behind for long and equalised 2 minutes later. The ball was played down the left to Jack Sell who perfectly picked out Man of the Match Jay Murray on the right edge of the box with Jay cutting into the box and taking his time to pick his spot and place a left-foot shot past Dan Worton and into the net to make the score 1-1.

A foul on Jack Sell on 15 minutes saw Clevedon awarded a free-kick 20 yards from goal and Archie Ferris stepped up to curl the ball around the wall and narrowly wide of the far post. 9 minutes later the visitors created a chance when Charlie Walton's cross was headed over by Charlie Maddison.

A ball down the right in the 32nd minute found Jack Witcombe who cut into the box and crossed to the far post where Dean Griffiths could only shoot into the side-netting. 4 minutes later and a speculative shot from the edge of the box was pushed away by Mike Dangerfield but straight to Tyson Pollard who with the goal at his mercy only managed to shoot straight into the arms of the relieved keeper.

Visiting skipper Lee Davidson played the ball forward on 39 minutes where a quick 1-2 between Matt Morris and Tyson Pollard saw the latter shoot straight at Mike Dangerfield.

The final action of the half in the 1st minute of stoppage time saw Jack Witcombe's cross from the right find Charlie Walton at the far post and he headed the ball back across the face of goal where luckily there was nobody in a grey shirt to apply the finishing touch and soon after the referee blew the whistle for the break with the teams heading in all square.

Half Time: Clevedon Town 1 Bradford Town 1

Bradford had the chance to take the lead on 53 minutes when a high ball caused problems in the Clevedon box with the ball eventually falling to Charlie Walton who could only smash the ball into the side-netting. A minute later Clevedon skipper Callum Kingdon put the ball through for Jack Sell for a run at goal and Jack's firmly hit left-foot shot went straight at Dan Worton.

The visitors re-took the lead in the 56th minute. The ball was played into the Clevedon box and as Mike Dangerfield came out to punch the ball clear Dean Griffiths got to the ball first and back-headed the ball over the keeper and into the net to make the score 1-2. 3 minutes later and Bradford scored again. Charlie Maddison collected the ball on the left and hit the ball towards the far post where Dean Griffiths ran in front of Mike Dangerfield causing the keeper to miss the ball and be only able to watch as it nestled in the far corner of the net to make the score 1-3.

On 63 minutes Jay Murray played the ball forward for Jack Sell whose shot from the edge of the box went straight at Dan Worton. A minute later and Lee Davidson's long ball found substitute Lewis Powell whose shot was well saved by Mike Dangerfield. However the respite was only temporary as the visitors scored again soon after. Matt Morris collected the ball 25 yards from goal and hit a firm low shot that nestled into the bottom corner of the net and made the score 1-4.

Clevedon won a free-kick 25 yards from goal in the 67th minute which Syd Camper took and curled a left-foot shot over the wall and just over the bar. 10 minutes later and the visitors played the ball forward for Tyson Pollard whose shot was pushed away by Mike Dangerfield with the ball then cleared.

Clevedon's attempts to get back into the game were made more difficult on 78 minutes when loan signing from Newport County Tom Wright was sent to the sin bin for 10 minutes for disputing the referee's decision.

With their numerical advantage Bradford pushed forward looking to extend the lead and in the 84th minute the ball was crossed into the box for Sean Keets to head goal-wards and force Mike Dangerfield into a good save.

Despite the efforts of both teams there was no further scoring and the Bradford supporters headed home the happiest.
