Our 1st International fixture took place at Caldicot today.
It was a tournament of two rounds with some old favourites from Somerset & new teams from Wales.

First game against the Bristol Badgers was tricky with some very tight marking and they pushed through our defence to win 0-1

2nd was another tight game v's Monsoon but we held them off with good footwork and keeping possession. Result 0-0

Third match against the hosts, Caldicot. We were starting to play nicely with great passing and lots of shots but unfortunately they scored. Result 0-1

Our final match in round 1 was vs Highworth. This match we played with confidence and clean passing leading to a cracking strike from Kirsty. Result 1-0

Onto round 2 with four more matches. We played Braunton with lots of possession & shots from George & Kirsty but hit the woodwork. Unfortunate not to score. Result 0-0

2nd game v's Hot Steppers was another strong game as we got into a rhythm. We did some sharp passing & good communication but again 0-0

Monsoon again but this time they had two shots that hit the back off the net. We played well and lots of shots but none were successful. Result 0-2

Cwmbran for our final game and we played some lovely football. Kirsty sneaked the first goal as the keeper lost the grip of the ball and then a second from Kirsty in the top corner. A great end to a fantastic team effort from all. Result 2-0

After results had been calculated we came third in our group, just missing out on the medals.

Everyone played so well & we improved so much as the tournament progressed. A special mention to Sarah Green on her Walking football official debut. She was solid in the back and did some great footwork to push forward & even had a few shots on goal! Also "safe hands" Steva had an outstanding tournament. She was confident & strong in goal. She made some very skilled saves to keep us in the game.
Excellent work from everyone and we look forward to our next fixture as the team grows & develops.
