Portishead Walking Football Friendly Festival June 29: Seasiders Blues

Rich Orr1 Jul 2025 - 16:19

Matches enjoyed in sweltering weather

A great team performance today from the Blue team at the Portishead Walking Football Festival. Some lovely football, teamwork and work rate from the whole squad.
Game 1: A nice passing move led to Nigel Workman scoring first. The blues continued to create chances but Portishead scored a late equaliser in a game we should have won. 1-1
Game 2: An even game that looked to be heading for a draw. After Tony hit the post, Nailsea counter-attacked and scored a dubious goal. 0-1
Game 3: Cam and Dursley scored two early goals. The blues worked hard but couldn't pull one back. 0-2
Game 4: A tough game against a good Weston blacks team led to a 4-0 defeat. Not a fair reflection of our performance.
Game 5: A well deserved 1-0 win with a nice goal from Kirsty. We continued to create and were unlucky not to score more.
Game 6: Played really well but got caught with two sucker punches against Mangotsfield. 0-2
A big thanks to Mark Plinston, Ali Smith, Kirsty Barrett, Gerry Thompson, Tony Munden, Nigel Workman and Bryan Nutt for their efforts and performance today. Thanks to Mark & Ali for sharing goal keeping duties.
