Clevedon Town fielded 2 teams amongst the 8 sides competing today at the Portishead Town Walking Football Festival. A very enjoyable day’s football, played in good spirit in hot and challenging conditions.
Clevedon Yellows came away with a 1-0 win against Portishead Town, Matt Gillett scoring and a 2-2 draw with Nigel’s Walkers. This was a great fightback after trailing 0-2 early on and secured with 2 great strikes from Mike Smith on his Clevedon debut. Although we suffered defeats in our remaining games we were competitive in all of them, playing some very good football.
With a squad of just 7 and goalkeeping duties shared it was a great effort by everyone. Huge thanks to Dave Butt, Craig Dashfield, Jon Day, George Edge, Rich Roberts and Mike Smith for their commitment, teamwork and camaraderie. Hats off to all of you!
Well done to our club colleague Colin Barnes, main organiser of the festival, and everyone at Portishead Town who contributed to such a well run event. Thanks for all their hospitality.
Also shout out to referees including John Hughes, Keith Seabourne and aforementioned Colin Barnes. And to all those Seasiders who came along to support.
Matt G, Clevedon Yellows Manager
