Both the Clevedon blue and yellow teams took part in SFA round 1 on a wet and windy day at Street.
The blues had a good start to the season. Three well deserved wins, two 1-0 victories against Yeovil Whites and Taunton and an empathetic 3-0 win over new side Imperial.
A 0-0 draw against a strong Keynsham side in a game we dominated from the first to last whistle, but just couldn’t find that all crucial goal.
The last game was a 1-0 loss to Frome, a very disappointing result with Frome making the most of their only real opportunity. Today’s goals coming from Marks Fairhurst/Pannett and Matt Gillett.
A big thanks to the whole squad, performances in the first four games were excellent and leave us very much in the thick of things.
Yellow report
A mixed set of results for the Yellows against very strong opposition on a wet, cold and windy afternoon. The opening game saw a late equaliser netted by Mike Ball after constant pressure was puled on against the Keynsham Reds. Next up was a battle against the existing champions - Weston. A good performance but unfortunately a 2-0 loss The third game against Yeovil was a frustrating one as the Yellows completely dominated the game but they couldn't get past an excellent keeper who saved everything fired at him, the game finishing 0-0. The fourth game saw a great victory over Western Rebels with Hobbs and Ham passing the ball neatly around and subsequently seeing Ball set up Andy Murphy who netted the winner - final score 1-0 . The final game saw a 2-0 defeat to Keynsham Yellows although a noteworthy performance by Ali Smith (stepping in for Paul Larder following injury) who pulled off some excellent saves.
