Today the WFA 65’s Club League R3 at Hutton Moor took place on a crisp, cold day.
First game was against Taunton 0-0 draw, a carbon copy of our last round match, a game dominated by us, good goalkeeping, the woodwork & a lot of wayward shooting, resulted in the game ending goalless.
Second game was against Abbeymead 2-1 win, we started off playing some lovely football with 2 goals by Nigel Woods giving us a convincing lead at half time. Second half saw a comeback by Abbeymead, a quick goal putting them right back in the game. Resolute defending & goalkeeping kept it at 2-1, a hard fought win for Clevedon.
Third game was against Portishead 1-0 win, a very tight affair with both sides determined not to give the ball away. A lovely turn & shot by Steve Woodey gave us a half time lead, with the second half being controlled by CT, enough to give us the win.
Fourth game was against Western Rebels 0-0 draw, after a 30 minute break since the last game. It took CT a while to respond to our previous flowing football, but once again great goalkeeping by WR & missed opportunities, it remained goalless.
Thanks to the squad:
Nigel Clarke, Mark Steadman,
James Hobbs, John Walter,
Steve Woodey, Richard Moore,
