Today we hosted our first ever Clevedon Town WFC Women’s Mini Festival, and what a fantastic experience it was!
We welcomed three Welsh teams (Cwmbran, FDL Pinks, and FDL Blacks) and, for the first time, we were able to field two Clevedon teams (Blues and Pinks); that in itself is an incredible milestone and a reflection of how much we have grown as a team.
Our goal was to create two balanced teams, and it truly paid off!
?Clevedon Pinks (Kasia - Cap, Jo, George (I), Sveta, Liz, Sam, Lex) had a brilliant run in the first stage, winning three and drawing one before taking Silver after a tough final against a strong Cwmbran side. They impressively conceded only one goal all tournament, phenomenal effort!
? Clevedon Blues (Carrie - Cap, Kirsty, Sarah, George (II), Klara, Maria) were a bit unlucky early on, creating great chances but struggling to find the net. They finished the group stage with one win, two draws, and one loss (to our own Pinks!), but bounced back superbly in the final stage to finish 3rd overall.
Throughout the day, we saw great teamwork, determination, and togetherness from everyone. I couldn’t be prouder of this amazing group of women.
Special mention to Jo and George (II), who made their first ever competitive appearances with us today. You both slotted in perfectly and welcome to the Clevedon Town family.
A huge thank you to Mark and Tony for refereeing all day, and especially to Tony for being an absolute legend and keeping the kitchen and bar running for everyone.
It was a fantastic afternoon of football and a great reminder of how far we’ve come and how much we can continue to grow together as a team.
