Disappointment on Saturday for the Clevedon Town 50s as they exited the WFA Walking Football National Cup away to Weston Super Mare at the 2nd round stage. A very good Weston side kept possession and moved the ball well, establishing a 2-0 half-time lead.
Clevedon rallied strongly in the second half, pulled a goal back through a great Mike Pope strike and overall probably had more shots on goal in the game. Ultimately though it was a 3-1 Weston victory, so good luck to them in the next round. Thanks to the Clevedon supporters who braved the traffic to cheer the lads on.
The game marked Andy Rankine’s last as 50s manager. Andy thanked all the players who have turned out over the year for their support. And in turn the club says a huge thank you to Andy for taking on the role, and all the work that goes with it - we look forward to continuing to see you and those luminous boots out on the pitch.
