Open age head coach Mark Costello (sponsored proudly by The Bull and Dog ) gives his say on the the first NCL game of the season away at Hull Dockers ARLFC 1880 on Saturday????

"Firstly it’s with sad news that our hooker Kenny Hughes lost his father this week to illness . Myself, coaches, committee, and players are sending our thoughts and prayers to him and his family at this very sad time. I will miss our chats after the game and the advice and support he showed me. Rest in peace.

This week sees us starting our new league campaign away to Hull Dockers. They are a big physical side and play on a small pitch, so players will have to work hard and be clever at making spaces appear in the opponents' Defence.

Preparations have continued to go well with the open age after defeating Pilks A team away 20-26 . It got valuable minutes into the legs of individuals, with a few appearing this Saturday away to hull. With NCL and NWML staring soon , Clock is in a strong place.

Nathan Benson has impressed me massively since returning to the club, and today was right to award him his debut at NCL Hull Dockers . He was outstanding against Pilks earning the man of the match, and this just shows the quality across the 18s and open age to play NCL when selected. Well done, Nathan .
I am really happy with the boys and know the 18 selected this week are ready to do themselves and club proud again .

Lastly, a big congratulations to John Aspinall (gateway) on winning the volunteer award at saints rugby league awards ceremony . The work and dedication that John has put in over 40 years at the club is unmatched . We love you John ???? Well done "
