A very good test for the lads who faced a side who are 2 groups above them and one of the best sides in the age group. The difference in speed was clear between the two sides early on as Golbourne kept Clock pinned in their own 20 metre zone and raced into an early 10-0 lead. However, this got Clock fired up for the game and they managed to apply pressure to Golbourne’s line but couldn’t get over to score. Towards the end of the first half, Clock had a lot of possession due to their great defensive efforts and forced errors by Golbourne. Clock continued their determined defence in the second half and kept Golbourne in their own half for long periods but another good 5 minute period allowed Golbourne to stretch their lead to 28-0. Clock finished the game with 3/4 sets on Golbourne’s line and was unfortunate not to come away from the game with a try at least. Everyone should be proud of such an effort and performance against difficult opponents.
