Clumber Storm 251 -1 v Keyworth Ladies 242-0
The Storm gathered at the Keyworth Field of Dreams for their season opener, a friendly 8 ball over to warm up, before the league match.
Captain Lisa Sankey, lost the toss and Keyworth inivited the Storm to bat. Clumber started well with Louise Page (13) and Lucy Taylor (9) scoring 22 for the loss of 1 wicket. Mother and daughter pairing Wendy (3) and Isabel (4) Eccles put on 7 without loss as Keyworth bolwed well in the middle of the innings. Anya Horsley (5) and Katie Jervis (1) moved the score to 229 for 1, setting up an opportunity for the final pair. Lisa Sankey (20) and Nya Horsley (2) did not disappoint with a solid 22 run partnership.
Keyworth started their innings steadily with youngsters Anya Horsley (0-3) and Lucy Taylor (0-3) keeping the openers tied up. Keyworth then started to find their range as their second batting pair scored 18 runs. Youth continued to perform well as Katie Jervis (0-3) slowed the rate as the third pair scored 8 runs. Keyworth needing 20 to win came up 10 short as Nyah Horsley (0-6) and Lucy Taylor (0-4) restricted the batters to 10 runs. Keyworth batted nicely losing no wickets, the Storm were sharp in the field conceding only one boundary in 8 overs.

Game 2 - East Midlands Ladies Softball League:
Clumber Storm 302 -6 v Keyworth Ladies 236-7
Making 3 changes from the first game captain, Becky Law called incorrectly and the Storm were asked to bat, in bright sunlight. The opening pair of Louise Page (27) and Nyah Horsley (15) put on 42 runs for the loss of one wicket to set the tone. Keyworth fought back with 3 wickets against Lucy Taylor (13) and Lynn Bradshaw (5). Becky Law (14 and Cheryl Morris (16) picked up the pace losing one wicket and the Storm final pair of Lisa Sankey (18) and Anya Horsley (23) scored 41 runs for teh loss of one wicket.
Keyworth in reply started well with their first pair scoring freely moving to 22 without loss. Anya Horsley continued to play well picking up the Storm first wicket of the season, Lynn Bradshaw picked up another restricting the Keyworth pair to 4 runs, at this point the Storm fielding reached a new level as they picked up 4 wickets, restricting the Keyworth pair to 16 for 4. Nyah (2), Becky (1) , Lucy(1) opening their accounts. The last Keyworth pair played nicely and scored 20 for loss of one wicket, with Cheryl Morris taking the only wicket.
The fielding and bowling standard set will be hard to follow as the Storm took their work in practice to the match play situation. The energy and execution of the basics contributed to these wins.
