Storm 338 - 5 beat Welbeck 296 -8


The Storm met Welbeck for their first fixtures, transitioning from soft to hard ball cricket at Welbeck on Sunday 23rd August.

The Welbeck captain won the toss and asked Clumber Storm to bat in bright sunshine.

The storm first pair of Lucy (15) 2 x4s, & Louise (10) 2 x 4s, batted well losing one wicket, in partnership of 20 runs.
Second up were Chantelle 1 x 6 & 3 x 4s, (24) & Tina (7) in partnership of 31 runs.
Third paid of Anya, (6) batting with Lynn (9) including 1 x4, and Katie (1) moved score to 272/1 with a partnership of 16.
Fourth Pair Becky (20) 3 x4s, & Cheryl (16) 1 x 4, lost 3 wickets as Welbeck fought back, restricting the pair to 21 runs.
The final pair of Lisa (16) 1 x 6, and Nyah 1 x4, lost wicket in scoring 25 runs to close on 338 - 5 (nett 313).

In reply Welbeck started well with Lenka (14) & Rachel (9) scoring 18 runs for los of one wicket. Second pair Sonia (6) & Aimee (8) scored 9 also losing 1 wicket. Third Pair Becky (11) & Mel (3) scored 9 for the loss of one wicket. Fourth pair Jean (9) 1 x4, & Lucy (11) 2 x 4, for the loss of 2 wickets. Final pair Bev (18), 3 x4 & Sue (7) scored 10 runs losing 3 wickets.

Both teams played the game in great spirit and showed they can easily transition form one format to another and perform well. The highlights were some clean hitting, good bowling form both teams and some outstanding ground fielding by the Storm.

The Storm train on Friday evenings from 6PM and new players are welcome.
