CPCC 2nd XI beaten by Killamarsh

After last week's Saving Private Ryan analogy, this week was far more like Apocolyspe Now as a weakened but game 2nd XI slipped to a 3rd defeat. Stuck in we lost Rich T down the leg side and the I played forward to a regular length ball that spat alarmingly off a crack and looped off the shoulder to a gleeful 1st slip. Great. That kind of set the tone although there were a couple of real positives in seeing Chris Mather return with a lusty 20 odd and Ben T batting over an hour at no6 to post 20 odd. The Chairman offered staunched resistance in the final stages but we were dismissed for 74.
We then had a selection of truly awesome Solway food sarnies.
In the field we again started superbly and reduced Killamarsh to 1 for 3 off 6 overs. Come oooon!!!! Simon and Smithy both bowled lovely but with **** all luck once again (excuse my french but some injustices need ******* well emphasising!). We picked up another near the end but were well beaten. No criticism of any of the guys and I really appreciated Mike and Neil turning out for me to help us get 4 teams out this week. I'd also like to say a special mention to Justin P. As well as missing a number of batsmen today, we also didnt have a keeper. I was dreading having to do it so thank you Justin for gamely giving it a go. You did brilliant and it was really appreciated. It's been difficult start for ther 2nds but lets all stick together and let's keep on keeping on x
