Two Thistles met for the first time in the top tier today at camp Rhu.CTFC started confidently on the back of previous defeats. All the boys in the starting lineup tried to get their passing going. Captain for the day Charlie was a constant menace through the centre and everyone was working hard to keep their shape and play how we are used to seeing them play.Gleniffer TWere a determined outfit who were lucky not to have gone several goals ahead but for their lack of discipline with the offside rules.Zak produced some heroic touches and read the attack’s bravely.Clyde Thistle eventually broke the deadlock with a better move from David H creating space on the right finding Charlie who typically used his skill to beat a marauding defence and his shot/cross deflected out to Cammy who took a touch onto his left foot and hit a shot from outside the box that whistled through the keeper .1-0 at halftime. No charge after the break and Clyde T continued to keep the pressure on but both teams were equally determined at this stage.Clyde won a free kick just short of the Gleniffer corner flag.Up stepped Ross M who mastered a lovely left foot shot that curled beyond the keeper and gave him no chance at the far past.2-0Clyde looked in control at this point, but a break away goal and some changes from the bench seemed to unsettle the boys who found the Gleniffer front men to sharp on the counter and Clyde conceded another from a quick slick move down the left giving an unfortunate Zak no chance. A penalty made it 3-2 Gleniffer. Clyde looked out played and short of composure, but a lovely long ball from Ross M from the restart found Charlie charging on and beating the defence to guide the ball home. 3-3Gleniffer had been a constant threat for most of the second half and another break down of a Clyde move led to a good ball to the left side finding a man free who dubiously beats the offside trap and chipped Zak for the winner. Clyde had no time to collect themselves and the final whistle blew along with any chance of any more goals.Gleniffer to the game to Clyde today and came home deserved winners.Clyde were slightly better than previous games but need to be sharper on and off the ball and have to win more tackles.
