Sara Harnett apoint to Manage the Development side
Coalville Town Ladies are delighted to announce Sara Harnett is to be our manager for the Ladies Development Team which will be launched next season. We feel Sara who is based locally will bring the necessary enthusiasm and drive required to be successful in this role. She has shown she has a willingness to develop not only her players but also herself as a coach. With female football going from strength to strength at Coalville Town this is the missing piece in the jigsaw we have been keen to put in place with the youth teams now bridging the gap to open age football we are in a position to field two strong open age teams next season. Youth & Ladies Secretary Wayne McDermott added “It is rare in football you meet someone with the passion and enthusiasm for the female game which Sara has and that’s the kind of energy we want around the club. I was very impressed when I met Sara and was delighted that the interview panel were equally impressed. We now have an amazing local team around the Ladies teams which gives us the stability to move forward with our plans to get the Ladies playing at a higher level.’ We asked Sara for a few words following her appointment ‘ Football and sport have always played a large part in my life. I've played football for a large chunk of my life, retiring from 11 a side a few seasons ago, instead playing a bit of 5 aside. I was previously a Secondary School PE teacher and coached both girls and boys football teams which I then carried on in the community. I've most recently been coaching boys football and taking my FA Level 2. I am incredibly excited to be getting back into the female game again, to give back, help girls and women find their confidence and to be a part of the great journey Coalville Town FC is on.’ Sara will be working closely with Ladies first team manager Tony Moore and Assistant Manager Matt Oxford and Ladies scout Shaun Culpin to help develop talent at the club. We have also introduced an U18’s team for next season and there is a real buzz around the club. We are all looking forward to getting back out training as soon as possible.
