Coalville and Stourbridge served up a 10 goal thriller at Owen St at The Ravens inflicted a first defeat of the season for The Glassboys.
The Ravens raced into a three goal lead with Tolani Omotola getting the first from close range after good work by Joe Doyle Charles glancing his header back across goal for Omotola to finish. On 8 minutes Tim Berridge got his first goal for the club hitting a powerful effort beyond James Wren in the visitors goal after a strong run.
The third came in the 17th minute as Alex Dean danced into the box beating Stourbridge skipper Paul McCone before finishing smartly into the far corner of James Wren's goal.
Five minutes later and Stourbridge hit the comeback trail, First Raven’s defender Kyle Bryant headed a long kick upfield backwards and over Max Smith Varnam. Stourbridge winger Greg Mills then fired a shot past Smith- Varnam and two minutes later Luke Benbow again found space in the box to equalise.
Joe Doyle-Charles then picked up a knock and was replaced by Lee Cox. Coalville then got back infront after good work by Kyle Bryant. The full back advanced into the box and Paul McCone lunged in giving the referee no choice but to point to the spot. Andrew Wright stepped up and cooly sent Wren the wrong way to restore Coalville's lead going in towards half time.
Stourbridge again restored parity on the hour mark as Leon Broadhurst rose highest at the far post to head home the dangerous Callum Powell’s cross. A tactical change was then made by Adam Stevens with Andrew Wright departing for Danny Jenno and switching the Ravens to 4 at the back.
A quick fire double then finally put the game to bed to give Coalville all three points. Firstly summer signing Scott McManus planted his powerful header from Kyle Bryant's cross beyond Wren and then two minutes later Tolani Omotola drove at the Stourbridge defence before playing in Tom McGlinchey who rifled his shot in the top left corner. Last seasons Top Goalscorer Daniel Creaney was then introduced onto the field in place of Tolani Omotola to make his 1st appearance of the season.
There was still chances for both sides to add to the 10 goal tally, Luke Benbow smashed a powerful free kick over the bar and then Steve Towers hit an equally powerful strike from 20 yards out which flew wide of Wren's goal. Daniel Creaney came close to adding a 7th when he met Alex Dean's cross from the right hand side but fired his volley wide of the goal & this was the last real chance of the thrilling encounter.
