Another win on the road for the ladies

Ladies complete league double over local rivals
Coalville Town Ladies start the day 4 points behind 4th place which is the position they set themselves as a target when Leon Howard and Dave Briars took over, this means the final 4 games remaining are must win games. However anything could of happened in the derby game.
Coalville changed formation to start the game and opted with 1-3-4-3 which provided the team with balance and strength throughout the Defence and Attack, however left the midfield outnumbered at times. Although Coalville were outnumbered in midfield the talent of team outshone Heather and Coalville managed to get a goal from a fantastic cross from Smith and finish from Dolman.
With the momentum, Coalville continued to grow into the game with the midfield really pushing on into the opponents half; Coalville managed to find plenty of space down the right side and they happened to get the space for Jackson to cross the ball and Dolman again getting on the end of a perfect ball to slot away for 0-2.

A few changes at half time, helped the team momentum by bringing on fresh legs and also changing the formation back to the original 1-3-5-2 after the managers realising the midfield were being outnumbered. The message was clear to keep the pressure and don’t let the opposition back into the game. As the second half started, Coalville’s work rate didn’t stop, the ladies continued to press quickly and high up the pitch which caused many problems for the opposition and with this fantastic pressing it was clear that another goal was coming and that was correct, Davies provided a fantastic back heel which enabled a great through ball to Folkard and Folkard made no mistake in making it 0-3.
The change in formation seemed to make a huge difference in the goal frenzy in the second half with two quick succession goals with Dolman scoring a fantastic solo effort and Jackson and Simons interlinking play for Jackson to score from 3 yards to make the score 0-5.
WOW, Then came the goal of the game or perhaps the goal of the season from Coalville Town’s very own Ashleigh Simons. This was a fantastic 35 yard strike which was shot with power and accuracy and found itself in the top corner of the goal in which Heathers keeper could not stop. 0-6
Finally Coalville’s last goal came from fantastic interlinking play between Canning and Simons which allowed Simons to put in a floating cross for Dolman to get her 4th goal of the game and her 24th of the season.
Once making is 0-7, Coalville seemed to stop playing and passes became sloppy, play became rushed and the ladies seemed to forget how to play through the thirds. Luckily the score was as heavy as it was otherwise the score would of been very different if Coalville played the whole game like the last 20 minutes of the game. Since this happened, Heather scored two goals in which one was fantastic play and other being a penalty which was nicely slotted away.

Leon and Dave said. “ Very professional performance and at times we saw fantastic play, however the last 20 minutes were very disappointing”
