Coalville travel to local rivals Ashby on Sunday for a Leicestershire Womens Senior League game. It was Sunday 27th October when the Ravenettes last took to the field, so they will be hoping that this game survives the weather. They have not been totally inactive though as each of their last few training sessions have included a one hour 10 v 10 game.
In contrast, Ashby have managed to get in a couple of games over that same period. A nine goal thriller at Desford was followed by an early exit from the league cup at the hands of league-leaders AFC Leicester.
The Ravenettes have already hosted Ashby this season. In fact, it was Coalville's last game that they played before their enforced break. The outcome was an 8-1 victory to the home side, but Ashby were without a couple of key players on the day.
News from inside the Coalville camp is that the turnout for training has been excellent again. Tuesday saw 20 girls participate in one hour of practice and a one hour game at the end. Ella Whitby is close to a return to training after turning her ankle but both Rachel Coote and Lizzy Jackson are unavailable for Sunday's trip.
Manager Tony Moore said "strength in depth will be key for us this season. There will always be injuries and unavailability, but it is nice that we can call on players that we are confident will do a job for us. We really could do with playing a league game on Sunday, but we have a contingency plan in place to play a friendly game against a Derbyshire Ladies League side".
