Following the Governments roadmap out of lockdown announced on the 22nd Feb, organised outdoor sports teams were given the green light to recommence from the 29th March.
Having missed the last couple of months of the season, grass roots (including our Juniors) resumed their league games or variations of friendly competitions which are permitted to go right up in to June to catch up much missed football.
The men’s First Team has had their league season curtailed, however the FA remains committed to continuing the FA Vase until completion. This means the Hammers will have the opportunity to compete in the 5th Round on the 24th April after 4th round opponents Stowmarket withdrew from the competition.
The Combined Counties Fripp - Smith Trophy begins on the 10th April with the Hammers at home to Tooting Bec after a friendly run out at Virginia Water on Saturday.
Our u23’s began the Surrey Elite Covid Cup with an excellent comeback against Virginia Water Reserves on Saturday having been 2-0 down at half time and reduced to 10 men. The young Hammers battled back to win 4-2.
Matches are currently behind closed doors until the DCMS and FA update their guidance, but football is back and there are lots of happy faces back on the training pitches.
