A good competitive played by our Reserve side against a strong Welwyn team. The game started very openly with both teams having early chances. We were unlucky not to be 1-0 up with some excellent wing play and a cross which led to a header being saved by the post.
Welwyn took the lead 20 minutes into the game coming from a poorly defended corner. This followed a shaky ten minutes where Welwyn looked to capitalise on their momentum in the game. However, the boys dug in and ended the half strongly, creating a few chances of their own.
After a few changes in the second half, Cockfosters started the second period strongly, hitting the post after a lovely passing move and a strong shot across the face of goal. Unfortunately, we couldn't capitalise on the strong start as we were caught out following a strong counter attack and went 2-0 down.
It was pleasing to see the lads respond in a positive way and fashion a few other chances but it wasn't meant to be.
