London Colney 1 Cockfosters 5 - Match Report Courtesy of Ella Constanti
With our last three games being well below the levels shown earlier in the season, we simply asked are the lads to take tonight's game as an opportunity to reset, keep things simple and to make sure to work harder than the opposition, regardless of how the game plays out = and thankfully all 16 players used tonight did exactly what was asked.
It was apparent London Colney had some problems; with new faces on the coaching side and on the pitch itself - the team looked a bit disjointed. But to be fair, they worked hard and trusted each other on what was a horrible pitch.
Our football didn't really flow for the first half hour, but our shape was good. However, with five minutes to go before half time, Stanley played a lovely ball over the top which George latched onto to make it 1-0.
The second half was much easier on the eye as our football improved and many more chances were created. We made a number of changes throughout the half which of course can usually be quite disruptive, but tonight, every change kept helping to increase our levels.
Our opponents were definitely not the strongest we have faced. How ever, the boys did well in making sure they executed our instructions and continual tweaks here and there. Special mention to Stanley Young from Vas's team, who claimed three assists. Toju on a good debut, and a massive round of applause to Egan Nge from and Mikey Omitou from Omi's U16 team who stepped in with late call-ups due to injuries. Both were absolutely superb tonight.
