Colne put in a good performance but lose out to strong Birchfield team.
Colne travelled away to a strong Birchfield team, who were sitting top of the table after remaining unbeaten so far this season.
Colne started the game strong and were putting together some good phases of play using there strong forwards to gain ground and looking to go wide with the backs at every opportunity. Colne were running hard and were hoping they could get on the scoresheet early but the Birchfield team were not giving away any ground and tackled every thing that ran at them throughout the whole afternoon. Birchfield went in at half time 24-0 up.
Colne were hoping the second half would be different looking to keep the ball alive and were now beginning to show just how good they were, getting an early try from winger Dean Sykes scored in the corner conversion was made out wide by Matty Tindall. From the kick off Colne were again looking dangerous and managed to power there way up field with strong drives by the forwards, pressure was now on The home team as Colne worked hard gaining ground up to the opposition 10 metre line, an offside from Birchfield gave Colne a penalty that was taken quickly by Tindall who ran in untouched only to tackle himself just short of the line losing the ball forward. Birchfield were able to get one more try before the final whistle leaving the final score 31-7.
