DOUG BENZIE

We were stunned and saddened to hear of the untimely and sudden death of our Club Secretary a week ago.
Doug was a founder member of Colony Park Juniors, and worked tirelessly through all the good times and bad times that the club had to endure in its short history. There is so much that can be said about Doug, but this has already been said in the hundreds of messages that have come our way from friends and acquaintances, and from Football Clubs, both locally and from throughout Scotland.
Doug epitomised what a Club Official is all about in Grassroots Football, and was always there to keep everyone right with regards to all the rules, regulations and red tape that goes along with Junior Football. He also contributed greatly with the maintenance and repair of the ground and pavilion at Colony Park. He truly was a dyed in the wool Colony man, and was there to see the team rise from the bottom Division to the Superleague.
Our present manager, Kevin Bonarius summed things up precisely in his post about our loss. He said
"We are shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of our irreplaceable secretary and club stalwart Doug Benzie. We all wish we could tell him how sorely he will be missed. Our thoughts are with Doug’s wife Moira, his daughters Lynne and Ann along with his family & friends at this time."
