In the first ever meeting between the teams Colony Park lost out to Maud in the Mc.Bookie.com Superleague. Prior to the match a minute’s silence was observed for those who died in the air crash involving Chapecoence Football Club.
Maud made the opening attack forcing a corner in the first minute and from the kick they headed wide of the goal. Colony’s first corner came after 10 minutes which the Maud defence cleared as they did with another Colony corner five minutes later. On 26 minutes Farquhar made a fine save from a Maud free kick turning the ball for a corner. A minute later Douglas had a header saved. Maud took the lead in 35 minutes when they scored from close range. Five minutes later Maud added to their lead with a shot just inside the box to them a 2-0 lead which they held until half time.
The first significant action of the second half saw Maud hit the bar with a shot from distance. In 56 minutes Colony Park were awarded a penalty. Bonarius took the kick but Fyfe in the Maud goal made a fine save to deny the Inverurie side. Six minutes later Maud increased their lead when they picked up a loose ball from a Colony clearance and struck the ball into the net making it 3-0. Maud scored another in 72 minutes giving them a four goal cushion. At this point Colony’s manager Andy Roddie along with Andy Graham replaced Ross Durno and Chris Ness. Roddie made an impact almost immediately when his defence splitting pass found Jack STRACHAN who ran through and scored from close range making it 4-1 after 77 minutes. Colony worked hard to get another goal. However with five minutes Bonarius was shown a second yellow card reducing Colony to ten men and Maud took advantage of having the extra man when they added a fifth goal in the final minute.
