There was a minute’s silence prior to kick-off to commemorate Remembrance Day, and this was impeccably observed by all in attendance. (See photograph)
Unfortunately, the match was not completed due to a serious injury to Peter Douglas which occurred in the second-half of the game.
The visitors had blown Colony away, scoring four times in the first-half due to a combination of spectacular scoring and poor defending.
Colony began to improve, and were looking like getting back in the game when Pete Douglas competed for a loose ball in midfield. He got to the ball first, but his opponent, sliding in, connected with the lower part of his leg with sickening results, and it was immediately realised that he had sustained a serious injury.
Players from both sides were visibly upset, and with over 25 minutes still to be played, the match was consequently abandoned.
Game Abandoned – No result
It was later confirmed that Peter had sustained a double fracture, and everyone wishes him a speedy and full recovery.
