Colony were punished for not taking their chances today. They produced an impressive first half display which should have seen Colony at least 3 goals to the good, but combination of poor finishing and some brilliant goalkeeping from the East End goalkeeper meant there were no goals at half-time. Colony did think they had scored during a goalmouth scramble, but it was difficult for the sole referee to see whether or not the ball had crossed the line.
The second half was a different challenge with the wind picking up, and the low sun affecting players vision, and the team struggled to produce much quality. Colony conceded a penalty from a corner which caused another goalmouth scramble, when Conor Killoh appeared to have stopped the ball crossing the line with his hand, which saw him sent off. During the melee, goalkeeper Tom Mackie was injured and had to be replaced by Stuart Gray minutes later.
Colony were now chasing the game, and in an effort to salvage something, they conceded again in the final minutes with an East End break away.
Goals win games and Colony need to find a formula when on top in games to put there chances away. A frustrated changing room post match understandably after today. We go again next week.
