Consett Rugby Club Beer Festival 2012

We are pleased to announce that after last year’s successful inaugural Rugby Beer Festival we have our 2nd Festival event on the weekend of the Queens Diamond Jubilee from the 1st to the 3rd June. We had over one thousand people attended our event last year and were lucky to get great PR on ITV as well as BBC local radio. This success surpassed all our expectations! So this year’s Festival will start at 7pm on Friday 1st June. Last year our goal was to help regenerate our juniors section. This has proved extremely successful and we have re-established two new teams at Under 12’s and 13’s level with some 40 new children involved. Our Minis to Under 11’s have seen their numbers increased by almost 100%.This year we are trying to again give as much support to this area as this is the life-blood of our club. This can be seen in our successful 1st XV which has an average age of 21 years old and achieved promotion this year- well done! The festival will feature 26 Real Ales, 8 Lagers, 6 Ciders and 6 Wines and if real ale isn’t your thing, then a normal bar and champagne are available. Entry is free into the beer tent and ground, there’s a £3 charge for festival glass and programme, the festival token price for half a pint of real ale or cider or glass of wine is £1.00.We have planned a fun-filled weekend with Rugby Sevens on the Saturday, on the Sunday an open invitation family ‘Six Nations’ Touch Rugby tournament followed by a Rugby League match, local bands for each evening, but also in association with Leisure Works the Sunday will be a Family Fun day, with lots of free activities supported by other groups and organisations.
