Consett I XV are looking to the with high aspirations to build on last season’s platform and promotion from DN2 to DN1 where the standard will be much higher and although it is 2 season’s since Consett last played in DN1 our sights are set on making an impression. The home grown players graduating from our U18’s team into senior rugby over the last 3 seasons gives us a strong platform to push on and they have gained valuable experience playing last season and winning promotion. We have a new I XV captain in Nick Cook and a very committed II XV captain in James Watson whom is keen on making sure his team push hard for I XV places and the II XV will be supported by Paul Milligan bring valuable coaching experience on game days. The squad has been bolstered by the return to Consett of Philip Brown from Liverpool, Lewis McQueen (Australia), Carl Pearson (Injury), Jonathon Hames (New Zealand) plus two further players to return when they feel like it but still lots of sand to remove there. We also have 3 new signings arriving in the next few weeks so more good news to follow and with their commitment and our support the future should be bright for all our teams this season and wishing our U 18’s a successful season after returning from the USA and playing at Kingston Park before they enter into the senior system.
