As the new season approaches, we're delighted to welcome the new coaching set-up at Consett RFC.
George McGuigan is our new Director of Rugby and Yaree Fantini is Head Coach for the 2026/2027 season.
George brings a wealth of experience from the professional game, along with a passion for developing players and building a strong, competitive environment. His leadership, knowledge, and drive will play a huge role in shaping the future of rugby at Consett.
This is an exciting new chapter for the club, and we’re confident George will inspire everyone involved—from senior players to our next generation coming through.
Please join us in giving George a warm Consett welcome!
Yaree joins us after an outstanding season with Blaydon, where he finished as their leading try scorer and earned selection in the Regional 1 North Team of the Year.
He brings with him an exceptional rugby pedigree, having represented England 7s, Benetton Rugby in the United Rugby Championship, DMP, Northumbria University, and having started his rugby journey in the Leicester Tigers Academy.
Yaree’s experience, attacking quality and knowledge of the game will be a huge asset to our senior squad as we continue to build for the season ahead.
Please join us in giving Yaree a warm welcome to Consett Rugby Club.
We would like to say a huge thank you to both Cameron Neild and Alex Hearle for your incredible coaching this season at Consett RFC. Finishing 2nd in Regional 2 North is something the club has never achieved before, and it’s a testament to your dedication, expertise, and the energy you’ve brought to the team.
Your support and guidance have genuinely made all the difference, helping everyone push themselves further and believe in what we can accomplish together. The whole squad is buzzing with pride, and it’s fantastic to see the team’s hard work and commitment rewarded with such a brilliant result.
