CONSETT GOING FOR COUNTY CUP GLORY!

This evening sees Consett play their final competitive fixture of a long 2021/22 season against Hartlepool Rovers in the Intermediate County Cup Final.

After a very humbling league season for the 1st XV a victory tonight would be a fantastic end of season reward for the squad who have suffered some heavy defeats in NE1 this year, the biggest of which was their final league game against Ilkley no less than 10 days ago which embarrassingly ended 104-0.

Having beaten South Shields Westoe 30-19 to profess to the final of the Cup, Consett will be looking to go one step further and secure their third County Cup victory against Hartlepool Rovers in recent years.

Having used 49 players in the first team throughout the season there were some very difficult selection decisions to be made by the coaching team for this match however they are in a position to select arguably their strongest match day squad of the season for this evenings fixture despite some notable absentees. The squad even includes veteran ex-Rovers No.8 Stew Grazier who is vying for his first county cup win having lost out to Consett in previous years.
