Acklam vs Consett

A good start by Consett surprised the league leaders. A constant wave of attack found the visitors get the opening score with Mark Sadler crashing over from close range, no conversion.
Acklam soon clicked into gear and following some good kicking found themselves deep in Consett territory and left with 3 points after an infringement by the away side, 3-5. Ackalm grabbed another penalty just a few minutes later, 6-5.
The rest of the half saw an exchange of possession and territory with neither side able to covert the pressure. This was the case until a quick break on the left hand side of the pitch lead to Ricky Grey killing the ball and ending up in the bin. Acklam opted for the scrum and used the man advantage, scoring in the corner after some good back play. Converted...half time 13-5.
Consett started the second half well and held their own for the first 20 minutes but were undone as legs started to tire and Acklam secured the win with 2 tries from their speedy winger. Both tries converted, full time score 27-5.
A better performance from Consett but lacked the intensity and cutting edge to convert possession into points.
