Managerless Crusaders Hoping For Suffolk Result

Work hard, keep discipline, play the ball easy and fight for each other!
- Alan Tong, Club Manager

With two wins from their first two games under new manager Alan Tong, Crusaders travel south of the East Anglian border into Mettingham looking for a hattrick of wins without the new boss to oversee proceedings. Former manager Sam Whitham is expected to oversee proceedings, with captain Jake Dugdale, Liam Frost and James Chaplin all pitching in for what will surely be the club's toughest test this early into the season.

Tong has passed on his thoughts regarding the lineup tomorrow morning, although with a few absences the squad almost picks itself. No Francis, Harquail, Smith or Sousa this week leaves the tactical options looking worryingly thin. Doubts remain over whether Burroughs is fit to make the short trip from his Suffolk home, but Ollie Parris has been training with the side over the summer and looks set to make his competitive debut. As does fellow new-recruit Karl Wade, who will be looking to gain some match fitness from the fixture.

Mettingham were formed in 1965 as a youth side, but went on to experience trophy laden years in the senior Beccles league throughout the 1970s, with smatterings of limited success over the last 30 years. They joined the Norwich & District Sunday League in 2012 and have been fairly unspectacular as they have climbed the leagues more through default than success. 2012/13 in 4B saw them finish 6th of 9 but it was enough to gain promotion. 7th in 3B the following season was enough to go up again. Last season the side finished 8th in a strong 2B and have been switched to the 'A' side of the league structure for this season.

Greens fans and players alike were delighted to break the run of defeats against Newsman Celtic last week, but Mettingham FC represent a totally unknown quantity at this level. Information coming through suggests that they are a youthful side who play with a directness and pace to their game that can unsettle teams, but they have been known to let their heads drop if they get behind. Their only game so far this season was a 3-1 win over Brooke and with Crusaders getting a similar result against the farming community outfit, Tong will be hoping that Crusaders can shake off the habit of starting slow and take control early on. The gaffer has a certain style of playing and demands a work ethos and he will be hoping the team can perform to the best of their ability.

Crusaders will be meeting at B&Q on Hall Road, Norwich before travelling to the game. Travelling fans are advised that the pitch can be located at Earsham Playing Field, Bungay, Suffolk, NR35 2SY.

Milestones:
Ollie Parris and Karl Wade are set to make competitive debuts for the Crusaders.
A win in Mettingham will be the first time Crusaders have won three in a row since November 2013.
