Take a look back at a review of this week’s Academy action from Conwy Borough FC

This past week saw our academy squads in action with Penmaenmawr Phoenix, Colwyn Bay FC, Flint Town United and Llandudno FC respectively.

Our under 9s made the short trip to Penmaenmawr Phoenix on Wednesday evening as they took on their under 10s squad and put on an impressive display running out 12-1 winners with goals coming from Jamie Jones (4), Harrison Shone (4), Morgan Pond (3) and William Rylance.

The squad was again in action on Saturday morning as they welcomed neighbours Colwyn Bay FC to Penmanen Road and recorded their second victory of the week as they won 4-1 with the goals coming from Elliott, Joe Morris, Harrison Shone and Lewis Murray-Williams.

Kicking off at the same time were our under 10s who once again overran their opponents as they comprehensively won 18-2 with the goals shared between Ben Parry (5), Luca Meek (3), Luke Pumfrey (3), Bryn Williams (3), Dylan Griffiths (2), Owen Baum and Shae Pugh.

Finally it was our under 11s wrapping up the mornings fixtures and they also recorded a victory as they picked up an 8-1 victory with Alex McGoona heading the scoring with a hatrick while Ollie Clarke, Cameron Davies Tidswell, Will Mercer and Charlie Dales grabbed one a piece with good performances also coming from defenders Jack Wells and Cian Llyr Taylor despite the commanding score line.

Sunday saw our academy cup squads make the trip to Flint Town United.
Our under 12s came away with a share of the spoils as they played out a 2-2 draw and having gone behind responded quickly through Cian Jones before a second came from an Aiden Thomas free kick however the young tangerines were thankful to goalkeeper Leo Smith who pulled off two fantastic stops.

The under 14s fielding a number of new faces had a difficult morning as they were beaten 9-1 however the team can now look to build with a settled squad.

Finally it was the under 16s in action and found themselves 4-1 down at the break before showing real character to pull off a fantastic turnaround in the second period to run out 4-5 winners with their goals coming from Ryan Boddis (2), Scott Kearny (2) and Sion Rowlands.

Y Morfa Stadium saw the weekends fixtures come to a head as neighbours Llandudno FC made the short trip in the Welsh Premier Development league to face our under 19s.

The young seasiders proved to be too much for our development squad who were beaten in a 7-1 reverse and are still looking for their first points of the season.

Thank you to all of our parents, players and coaches as always in what has been an overall positive week for our academy squads, a full list of this coming weeks fixtures will be available on Tuesday evening.
