A terrific performance by Borough to win 5-0 at Rhyl on Friday evening. Scorers were Corrig McGonigle, Gethin Maxwell and Cory Williams (3).
After the game a very happy Warren Gibbs commented: “After last week's performance, myself and Dave Cavanagh asked for a big reaction and I think it's fair to say we got one! We know Rhyl have a lot of quality going forward so we had a game plan and the lads executed it perfectly.
It's very difficult to single anyone out because all thirteen put in such a shift and performance but I was especially pleased for Cory Williams getting his hatrick. He's worked his socks off in training when he was unfortunate to get suspended and he's got his rewards for his efforts and patience. It was just one of those nights where everything goes for you. Ben Heald made a great save from their penalty, Corrig got another goal and "Maxi" scored a wonder strike from 25 yards ..... which I'm sure I'll never hear the end of. I'll enjoy the next two weeks now before we play our final fixture.”
Rhyl (0) v Borough (5).
