Conwy Borough surrendered a 2-0 half time lead to slip to a 3-2 defeat to Buckley Town at Y Morfa on Saturday.

Conwy Borough manager Aden Shannon blasted his sides second half display: "The second half performance was just not good enough. After going 2-0 up it was about being professional and seeing the game out as we knew Buckley would come out fighting. But we just seemed to roll over without a fight."

Former Tangerine Lee Davey was the main architect with two well taken goals for the visitors as they fought back in the second half. But the home side thought they were on course for a much needed three points at half time through goals from substitute Tom Rowlands who reacted well to a deflected Luke Douglas shot saved by the Buckley keeper on the half hour mark. Then two minutes later skipper Leigh Craven jinked past two Buckley players inside the box and placed his shot superbly in the corner to put his side 2-0 up.

However the early warning signs were there as home keeper Christian Wright was forced into action on a number of occasions in the first half.

Conwy just couldn't get going in a disjointed second half display and apart from a Jordan Wells header which hit the top of the bar in injury time the home side rarely troubled Ben Jones in the Buckley goal.

The winner for Buckley came in the 76th minute from Dan Sullivan who was give acres of space as his long range shot found the corner of the net to jubilant scenes from the away side.

"We have been playing well lately and not been picking up points but Saturday was just not good enough and we all know that, but we will all be working in training to put it right for Saturday and hopefully bringing in a few new faces to boost the team. But we must earn the right to win and be up for a battle but I am certain my lads will be."

The result leaves Conwy Borough second from bottom in the Huws Gray Alliance. Next Saturday the attentions switch to the Welsh Cup where WNL Div 1 side Cefn Albion provide the opposition.
