Managers Programme Notes:
Good evening all and welcome back to GDF for an intriguing KST Semi Final vs Beckenham Town. Beckenham are flying high at the top of the table and have led pretty much all season and I fully expect them to continue to pick up points as they challenge for promotion. We have already played and beaten Beckenham at home this season, in a hotly contested fixture and we will clearly expect today to be no different. We are one of a number of sides in the chasing pack, so on paper today suggests it should be a good match. The winners of today's match will face Sheppey United in the final who beat Bearsted 3-0 last week.

Wednesday night saw us avenge a defeat from earlier in the season against Welling Town. A comfortable 5-1 victory, however, we could have gone in at the break at 3-2 but for a terrible decision from the assistant referee that benefitted us and the second half would potentially been a different proposition. But as it was, we comfortably added goals to our tally and again for the second week in a row, could and maybe should have had more goals by the end of the game. We started the game very well and scored two very well worked goals, but then complacency crept in and we made silly mistakes that allowed Welling back into the game. We have made it explicitly clear that we cannot afford to do this against the top sides, as we will be clearly punished, so hopefully we will cut that out from out game moving forwards.

Last Saturday saw us comfortably beat Sporting Khalsa in the last 16 of the FA Vase 3-0 and progress into the Quarter finals, where we now know that we will face Leighton Town from the Spartan South Midlands League at the end of the month. Leighton are currently mid-table in their league, but this does not give a fair reflection of their current form. Leighton lost 7 of their first 8 league fixtures and have since been on a long unbeaten run, as well as comfortably beating good sides along the way the Vase, means they will be very difficult opposition. We are of course pleased to be at home, but in no way will we be underestimating Leighton and I will certainly be preparing for an incredibly tough fixture.

The fixture against Sporting Khalsa saw us break our attendance record since the club reformed with 246 people coming to watch our game, I am hopeful that we can go can close to doubling that in the Quarter Finals. Over the past 18 months we have continued to break club records and reaching the Quarter Finals is another club record that the current squad have managed to break. I can assume you all that we will be going all out to reach the Kent Senior Trophy final and attempt to bring some silverware back to the club to add to the records we are currently breaking.

Enjoy the game,

Michael
