Station Road Sunday 12th May

On the afternoon of Sunday 12th May, Corsham Cricket Club played host to Wiltshire’s first Women’s Soft Ball Festival of the season.

Welcoming teams from Collingbourne, Royal Wotton Bassett, Chippenham and Bathford as well as two teams from Corsham, the ground at Station Road was soon full of people as the cricket got underway in brilliant sunshine.

With a cake stall selling homemade cakes, and savoury treats from Corsham’s Toby Haynes Family Butcher, as well as a Pimm’s stall, the ground soon had a fantastic festival atmosphere.

One of the organisers of yesterday’s event, Jules Frost said: “We were delighted with the turnout for our festival. For the last few years it’s been a highlight of women’s cricket here at Corsham Cricket Club. The festival is growing from strength to strength and we were thrilled to put two teams out this year".

We’d like to say a big thank to you to all those that took part, as well as everyone from Corsham Cricket Club for their support in making it happen. There was lots of hard work behind the scenes – from preparing the ground to baking all the delicious cakes. It was a fantastic team effort and we were delighted to raise a handsome profit from the cake and Pimm’s sales, all of which goes back to the club.

The women’s soft ball festival is a light-hearted way to get involved in cricket and is designed to be fun and inclusive.
