Corsham find halftime reinforcements, crush Pinehurst

Talk about a “game of two halves”. The ladies of Pinehurst must have wondered what sleight of hand, what magical transformation had been perpetrated at halftime… They all looked the same, smelled the same, dressed in the same kit but surely must have been a totally different team.
The feeling amongst the faithful before the start was the expectation of a close game and initially that’s what came to pass… The first quarter, amidst a flurry of lost possessions, ended tied at ten. The second quarter, similarly error strewn, ended tied at twenty one… The half time team talk rightly addressed the issues at hand that, with a slight raising of the standards, the game was there for the taking.

Thus emboldened, our heroines took to the court. What Pinehurst wouldn’t have noticed was the secret inclusion of two new faces… application and execution. Yes, it’s the only way to explain the night and day nature of Corsham’s performance. They upped the ante and it proved too rich for Pinehurst who wilted in A), the heat of the dome and B), the pressure of Corsham’s second half performance. There is a universal truth that pervades all netball matches, the team that makes the fewest mistakes – wild and whacky umpiring decisions notwithstanding – will win… No more ill judged passes, no more handling errors, no more forcing of feeds into the circle just a return to that freewheeling style we’ve all become accustomed to… Corsham exploded in the third quarter winning it 16 – 8 then reinforcing their domination in the fourth, winning that stanza 17 – 8 to run out victors 54-37.
