It was another cold January evening in Devizes, but at least this week it wasn’t freezing. Corsham 2 fielded a good starting team, Emma in GS, Bea in GA, Elodie in WA, Charlotte in C, Susannah in WD, Breanna in GD, and Louise in GK.

The first quarter was really tough, the Devizes shooters were unstoppable and our passing wasn’t up to scratch, they scored a magnificent 20 goals to our 0. But we weren’t deterred, we re-grouped, kept our heads up, and battled on.

Sam came on for Breanna, bringing an air of elegance to our defence, and Bea swapped to C enhancing our centre passes. The second quarter was our strongest in attack, we achieved 3 super goals-against Devizes’ 17. It felt good.

In Quarter 3, we made a few more changes to the team, Layla came on for Susannah giving an injection of energy to WD and Breanna was back on, demonstrating her super control of the ball. We swapped our attackers and shooters too if only to stop Emma our GS from getting cold. We achieved 1 more goal to Devizes 10. Louise and Breanna put up a really strong defence.

In the final quarter, Devizes scored a further 13 goals to our 1. We played against a lovely team, we nominated their GS as the player of the match, she was unstoppable. As always the final score really didn’t feel like it reflected the match. Corsham kept trying and remained positive throughout. Emma certainly scored the goal of the match, a super long shot from just inside the D. And to Elodie’s surprise she scored a couple of cracking goals too, she remained as fresh as a Daisy, even in quarter 4 when the rest of the court was flagging and made some excellent interceptions and passes.

Charlotte was awarded player of the match as WA for her undeniably dramatic interceptions and passes enabling the shooters to score.

If the scores were based on positivity we would be a winning team. Onwards and upwards!
