Corwen 2 v 2 Llandudno - JD Cymru North – 04/01/2020

After a couple of games on the 3G surface at Maes Tegid in Bala Corwen returned to the War Memorial Park where they hosted Llandudno, the side they had opened their league campaign with in a 3-1 defeat.

Early on in the game Corwen’s Iorweth ‘Ioz’ Jones saw his shot blocked, but he was able to recollect it at the post and paly the ball back to Adam Williams, who crossed the ball into the box, where Ryan Billington sent his header over keeper Shaun Pearson and the crossbar.

A minute later Llandudno’s Jacob Farleigh poked a shot just wide of the post.

On the quarter of an hour mark Corwen’s Tom Williams ran with the ball into the box, where he delayed his shot and with Shaun Pearson on the ground he went for goal, but saw his shot blocked by a defender. The ball found its way back to Tom, who managed to get a shot on target, but pulled a great save out of Shaun Pearson.

Later in the game Tom curled a shot at goal, but again he was denied by Shaun Pearson, who pulled off a good diving save.

At the other end Jacob Farleigh crossed the ball into the box, where Robert Parry headed the ball over the bar.

Five minutes later the ball was pinged across the pitch to Robert Parry, who was in acres of space and was able to unleash a shot at goal, which pulled a good save out of goalie Dylan Jones.

Goal
On the brink of half time Joe Williams collected the ball on the edge of the box and had time to pick his spot before finding the top corner with a fine finish that went beyond the reach of Shaun Pearson.

Half Time

Goal

Five minutes after the break Ioz Jones saw off the challenge of a defender and got within shooting range, where he slotted the ball through Shaun Pearson’s legs and into the back of the net to double the home side’s lead.

The hosts had a really good spell following the second goal and Tom Williams was able to pull a save out of the Llandudno keeper.

Joe Williams was bearing down on goal in search of his second goal of the afternoon, forcing Shaun Pearson to come off his line and meet the striker, with Shaun saving the eventual shot.

Goal
As the game entered the final twenty minutes the visitors collected the ball in midfield, which was then played across to Robert Parry who ran at goal, forcing Dylan Jones to come off his line and towards the striker, whose shot bobbled in front of the Corwen keeper, resulting in it skipping up into the air and coming off Dylan’s chest and going over his head, resulting in Corwen’s Matty Williams and Llandudno’s Alexander Roberts to chase down the ball, with the Llandudno sub able to fumble the ball over the line to half his side’s deficit.

Corwen looked for an immediate response, but they were unable to get the better of the Llandudno goalkeeper.

The away side looked to level the scores from a corner, which was initially headed away on the goal line and into the path of Lee Thomas, who sent his close range shot into the side netting.

Penalty
With twelve minutes to play Corwen gave away a penalty (the twelfth time they have done so this season!), which Robert Parry took and he sent Dylan the wrong way to level the scores.

In the eighty-fifth minute Lee Thomas won the ball on the edge of the box, but he sent his shot over the bar.

In stoppage time Robert Parry looked to claim all three points for the visitors, but his shot sailed over the bar.
