It's often said you need to take a step back to progress forward and that has never been more true after season 22/23.
Cosmos UK FC is more used to working their way up the football ladder, this season had a rude awakening when the season took a turn and cost us a place in the senior division in the Bristol and Suburban league, the season started well with a draw away against to be promoted Stoke Gifford Reserves followed by a loss on penalties to a county side in the GFA Cup and a win in the league cup against Premier outfit Parsons St and a couple of league wins both home and away giving a great start to the season and hope that our new home in the Senior Divison is one we could keep and grow into.
After a few very hard games and some sobering results against teams that would later win the title and others that would be up there at the end of the season, we found ourselves around mid-table and far more aware of our status within the league this season.
Christmas normally a time of Joy and wonderment was far from that at Cosmos with poor weather throughout the festive period and January having torrential rain storms causing at one time our pitches to be 4/5 ft under water and attracting water sports such as jet skis rather than games of football.
once the weather storms had cleared the storms within the club started brewing this led to a lot of upheavals and results went south fast, after weeks of issues the manager was released and reinstated, and players in the end left the club and damage control was in full swing.
After a couple of much-improved performances by the players who had remained a couple more players decided not to see out the season in cosmos colors and join their mates at a nearby club leaving us woefully short on numbers but not in effort and passion.
The actions of a few had really brought the remaining squad together and the teamwork on and off the field was for all to see, even in defeat we fought to the final whistle and found positives rather than play the blame game.
Results sadly did not go our way when we played teams down around us for various reasons from availability issues as a lot of games fell in bank holidays or weeks we were originally having a free week, to playing a number of reserve teams who had a large number of first team players help out and cost us results that ultimately cost us the season.
The major positive to this season was the players who stuck it out and helped see out the season, everyone pulled together played some great football, and were very supportive of each other and brilliant sports on the pitch.
It would have been easy to give up with such drama off the pitch and the results on the pitch but as a club, we have to say a big thank you and respect to the following players who helped us see out the season and give us a platform to build off of next season.

BIG Thank you to Alex Kyte, Prof, and Max Biddle for your support off the pitch, and your efforts are more than appreciated this season.
Here to a much-improved upcoming 23/24 season!!!
Up the Cosmos!
