Costessey Sports Club was formed in 1948 shortly after the end of the 2nd world war so we have long been a part of the sporting scene in Norfolk. We had then and still boast today our football and cricket sections, with both youth and senior teams. Mr John Collison was one of the original footballers at the start and during the years that followed became treasurer and Chairman, currently he is still the club’s president after many years loyal service. The club’s policy is for our youth players to come through the age groups into our senior football teams. This policy has brought success particularly in season 2006/7 when both our first and reserve senior teams became champions of their respective divisions of the Norwich Sunday League. This was particularly pleasing as it was achieved with players who over the past two season’s came through from our under 16 team – this we are very keen to continue.
Our youth football teams were formed by John Wrath in 1977 the year of the Queens Jubilee celebrations and are one of the original teams from the early days of the Watton & District Rotary Club League before the current leagues were formed. We are always pleased to hear from youth players interested in joining the club.
We play our matches at two locations in Costessey – Breckland Park and Longwater Lane Park.
During 2008 the club gained the Football Association Charter Club Standard which we consider vital to our future development.
The club also has the following:
A child protection policy
Anti-discrimination policy
Codes of conduct for staff, players and parents
