Copsewood come away with 3 points from their first home game of the season

Saturday 21st September

Copsewood 3-2 NFK Burbage

Goal:- Dave Freeman x2 and Jac Redhead

A great result for the boys against a tough Burbage who before yesterday were 6th in the league.
The boys were really up for their 1st home game of the season and it showed on the pitch. Taking the lead early on through Dave Freeman after some great link up play between Jac Redhead and Sam Ellis.
Burbage went down the other end on 19 minutes but their effort was save well by Dale O'Donnell.
20 minutes after the 1st goal, a great ball through to Dave Freeman put him in on goal for him to get his 2nd and put Copsewood 2-0 upon 34 minutes.
Copsewood then increased their lead with some good play, ended with Sam Ellis seeing the run of Jac Redhead and put a perfect ball through for Jac who took the ball around the keeper and put the ball into the empty net. 37 minutes and Copsewood were 3-0 up and happy with how they had started. But then just before half time a lapse in concentration gave Burbage a goal with a strike from the edge of the box which went into the bottom corner of the Copsewood goal.

Half Time - Copsewood 3-1 Burbage

Burbage came out in the 2nd half with their tails up wanting to get back into this game. Chances were a few for both sides, until a long throw in by Burbage wasn't dealt with by Copsewood and the Burbage forward beat Dale to the ball to head the ball into the net to make it a tense finish for Copsewood.
Copsewood had their chances to increase their lead through Sam Ellis and Dave Freeman but unfortunately they weren't able to finish them. Finally the referee blew his whistle just after 5pm after playing about 15 minutes extra and Copsewood won their first home game of the season and moved up to 13th place in the league on 10 points after 7 away games and 1 home game. Copsewood now have a break from the league when they play in The Coventry Telegraph Cup next Saturday against Coventry Colliery.
