Sam Jones scores twice as Llanrwst beat Llysfaen in the FAW Trophy

Meilyr Williams17 Jul 2021 - 15:34

We are through to the second round of the Welsh FA Trophy after a comfortable 3-0 win against Llysfaen FC.

A bright start from the Rwsters as the boys pressed high and dominated possession. A few early chances went begging but the intent was certainly showing.

Danger often came down our left hand side with Gruffudd ap Gwyndaf offering width high up the pitch. In the 26th minute this paid off as Benn Lundstram headed home from a cross on the left hand side.

Another hugely important player in the first half was Sam Jones who used his creative mind well to stretch the Llysfaen defence. He found the net in the 38th minute with a great finish into the bottom right corner of the Llysfaen net.

With the clock ticking closer to half time new signing Sion Sullivan nearly found the net on his debut, rattling the crossbar with a fierce shot.

Sam's class showed yet again on the stroke of half time with another composed finish passed the Llysfaen keeper to make it 3-0.
